- Senior (Brian Pritt)-
- Junior (Amy Kwan)-

not present.
- Athletes (Tori)-
Athletes decided not to change system to 4 zones but keep as 2 zones. Kimiko said at convention that we need a new system to develop young divers. Senior divers didn’t want to emphasize 1 meter and wanted more synchro. Amy said that the athletes said that they wanted to qualify at zones for synchro and not just try to put a partner together at nationals. Hongping thinks that we will not have a big enough talent pool and it won’t work. Amy said senior athletes want to keep centralized training center at the Woodlands. Tori felt overwhelmed and confused at convention.

Team Reports:
New Business:
- AAU (see www.flipnrip.com/AAU/AUU_vs_USAdiving.htm)
AAU is becoming involved in diving again and will insure diving and other sports. Curt is going to cover all of his divers with AAU and some of his divers with USDiving. If enough teams join AAU, then there can be AAU meets in Southern California. 1979 was the last fully organized year for AAU. When the national governing body is not serving the needs of the public, then AAU steps in. USDiving has been going in the direction of supporting elite senior divers only and does not care about junior divers in the least. AAU is a program for youth only. Cost to register each diver per year is $12.00 in AAU. USDiving is not sharing with anyone its’ plan for the $800,000 grant it received. Oregon and Washington already have AAU structure in place. AAU novice meets are in the mornings and JOs are in the afternoons. Meets do NOT have to be sanctioned by USDiving. Only USDiving regionals, zones, and nationals have to be USDiving sanctioned. AAU nationals are based on FINA rules. All interested teams need to go to the AAU website and register online. Motion made to move toward All Teams joining AAU. Seconded.

Registration report: - Sue Anderson (see attached) Diver registrations are down from last year. There are two new SPA teams. 10 meets were sanctioned.
Committee Reports:
Senior- Brian Pritt: Would like to go to convention. Wants to get bids for Mission. Summer and Kellie are still diving and will continue until the next Olympics
Junior-Amy Kwan: Very busy summer. For the east and west meets, people were saying how tough it was, but seemed to go smoothly. She thinks that there won’t be a lot of adjustments in the system this year. There are a lot of people that believe that the east is better, and with more zones, the east feels they would have had more divers at nationals. Amy feels that the west is at a disadvantage since nationals have been on the East Coast. Feels that format fixes need to stand for four two eight years without being changed. Focus needs to be on junior diving. We don’t send young divers to international meets. We don’t have enough sponsors and the people in charge are not held accountable. At Nationals, 16-18 girls were predominantly from the west on 3m. 11th place got 414 points and last year that would have gotten 4th place. Curt feels that for most divers, 2 weeks after school let out the season was over for them. In the proposal there is a junior site selection committee. West championships next summer are in Oklahoma City. Amy feels that any member of US Diving should have access to any centralized training center. Winter regionals are at Pacific Diving. Summer Regionals are at
Rose Bowl. West Nationals are at Woodlands. Summer Nationals are in NC. Dwight and Tori made world team
Novice- David Beck: Dive Thousand Oaks meet will be on 10/2-10/3.
High School- Larry Brennan (not present)
Athletes- Tori will be athlete rep for convention only. New athlete rep will be voted on at next SPA meeting.
Masters- none
Team reports:

New Business

America’s Cup top divers may qualify for Olympic Trials. There are only about 6 or 8 female divers that have already qualified and have the minimum DD.
Junior (Amy)- Says that 2004 rules allow for 11 & under AND 13 & under for winter qualifying meets. Divers will have to choose one age group. New rulebook should be coming out soon. Scottsdale has not posted a format or schedule for winter regionals. Amy suggests that it should be a 3-day meet. Las Vegas will not host summer regionals. MVND and Rose Bowl want to host.
