Criteria for 2003 Diver of the Year

Updated at the January 22, 2003 Meeting of
the Southern Pacific Association of United States Diving.


1. Meet place finishes will be scored according to the following point system:

Place 1st 2nd 3rd 4th 5th 6th 7th 8th 9th 10th 11th 12th
Points 20 18 16 14 12 10 8 6 4 3 2 1
Note that each EVENT (e.g. 1m, 3m) will be scored per this table, then the rank for the MEET will be determined from the total score, and the MEET points determined from this table.

2. Placings in the following competitions will be considered:
SENIOR:

Jun 24Senior National Championships
Aug 15SPA Summer Championships
The six highest meet place points for each diver will be considered to determine the Senior Diver of the Year.
JUNIOR:

The ten highest meet place points for each diver will be considered to determine the Junior Diver of the Year, except 12-13 (see 4. below).

3. Special Consideration will be given to divers competing in international events as a member of the United States team.
Placings in such events will be in red.

4. NOTICE: the JO Diver of the Year competition for 12 and 13-year-old divers will be divided into two parts: the first half (marked *) will be for 12-13 only, the second half for 13 and under. The number of meets to be included for points is four out of five in the first half and five out of six in the second half.

5. At the 2003 January 22 meeting of SPA, it was decided that in order to accrue Senior Diver of the Year points at a meet, a diver must satisfy the appropriate Senior DD requirements.
